Dr. Michael Estramonte
Chiropractor in Charlotte, NC
Dr. Michael Estramonte was born and raised in Greenwich, NY. It was in this small town where Dr. Mike played basketball, tennis and golf, proudly representing his school and his teams’ mascot, The Witches.
Dr. Mike remembers the very moment that he was inspired to become a chiropractor. He was about ten years old and it was a Sunday morning; his mother had horrible back pain and was not able to get out of bed. “It was a small town and the chiropractor’s office was actually in his house…my father had to carry my mother into the car; we drove about a half hour and I remember helping her onto the table. She was uncomfortable while the doctor worked on her but when he finished, she got up off of that table and she walked out on her own – and that was amazing.”
It was then when Dr. Mike discovered his appreciation and passion for the sciences. Taking every opportunity to learn more, Dr. Mike found pleasure in handing in school assignments and reports about the spine and the nervous system. However, it was Dr. Mike’s own personal encounter with chiropractic care that led this passion of his to become a pursuit.
After learning that chiropractic care was not just for injuries and pain management, but that it could be beneficial to overall health and immune system, he decided to receive periodic adjustments, with the hopes of it helping to reduce the severity of his hay fever allergies. It was not long before Dr. Mike noticed a significant improvement in his allergies and his health, and, at this, Dr. Mike was convinced that he would one day become a doctor.
Following his undergraduate studies at Oswego State University, majoring in Biochemistry, he was accepted into New York Chiropractic College in Seneca Falls. Dr. Mike worked hard to excel in his academic studies, graduating with a high distinction of honors, summa cum laude (GPA 3.9), and an induction into the Phi Chi Omega Honor Society. Exploring his hidden passion for teaching, Dr. Mike also served as a teaching assistant in courses such as biochemistry, neurology, anatomy and x-ray diagnostics. Out of a desire to see his peers grow and succeed, Dr. Mike conceptualized and composed a teaching manual that he then used to teach review courses for both biochemistry and neuroanatomy for the National Board Exams.
Upon graduation, Dr. Mike was offered an opportunity to join the chiropractic physicians at the Keith Clinic here in Charlotte. From 2000 to 2002, he practiced alongside Dr. Fletcher Keith and Dr. Thomas Brown, gaining invaluable knowledge and experience in treating patients in a private practice. Taking everything he learned, Dr. Mike opened the Keith Clinic at Sugar Creek in 2002, where he practiced until 2011.
In 2011, Dr. Mike assumed ownership of three Keith Clinics in Charlotte, transitioning him to actively work towards refining and expanding the vision and direction for all three clinics.
It is Dr. Mike’s aim and purpose is to cultivate a “culture of family” within all of the clinics, in service to the Charlotte community. His belief in and philosophy of, “Chiropractic care, not as alternative care,” is his motivation to redefine chiropractic care by educating the community of their option for chiropractic care as standard healthcare, not just secondary or alternative. His uncompromising passion for exceptional patient education, knowledgeable doctors and staff, compassionate care, modern and state-of-the-art equipment and advanced diagnostic imaging reflect his vision and his desire to not only treat patients, but to help change their lives.
“When you go to our clinics, you are going to be treated professionally, the doctors will be well-educated about your conditions—that to me is the most important and ultimately patients feel that.”
As a past Secretary of the North Carolina Board of Chiropractic Examiners—a position appointed by the Governor—Dr. Mike took great pride in holding such an honored role that allowed him to give back to the chiropractic community. In addition to serving as Secretary of the Chiropractic Licensing Board, he has also served as President of the North Carolina Chiropractic Association (NCCA). Further distinguishing himself, Dr. Mike has received the NCCA’s President’s Award, Member of the Year Award and the 2012 Doctor of the Year Award.
Though a fan of the Green Bay Packers, Dr. Mike also shows “Panthers Pride.” He enjoys living in Charlotte and appreciates its “Small Town, Big City” vibe that so charmingly welcomes all to call it home… When not at the office, Dr. Mike enjoys starting new projects, reading books about nutrition and history, visiting museums, traveling with his wife Alana and watching baseball and football with his two boys, Evan and AJ.
