Dr. Nicholas Chappel

Chiropractor in Charlotte, NC

Dr. Nicholas Chappel grew up in the small rural farm community of Cass City, Michigan. Michiganders call this area “The Thumb” and Dr. Nick still calls Cass City home and enjoys getting back fairly often to see family and friends. Growing up Dr. Nick stayed very active with basketball, golf, track and field and band. One of his first memories of seeing a chiropractor was around early high school when he injured his neck playing summer basketball. Dr. Nick was having difficulty turning his neck and after a few visits to the local chiropractor he was able to move much better and with zero pain.

“I remember walking out of the chiropractic office thinking how great I felt. I couldn’t believe it!”

Dr. Nick’s father was in the healthcare field and he always stressed the importance of prevention and staying active. His mom was very active with their church and giving back to the community. His father also coached girls and boys basketball, golf, baseball and opened the local gym up in the winter on Saturdays so kids in town could play pickup games. Dr. Nick stayed very active on his own playing basketball at a young age and helping his dad with practices and open gyms. He remembers playing basketball with the older kids and spending tons of time outside shooting baskets until it was dark.

“I really think that from a young age I knew that I wanted to help people and seeing my mother and father help others sparked that interest.”

After graduating from high school Dr. Nick attended Albion College, playing golf his freshman year there and focusing on pre-medical studies. After his freshman year he decided to pursue a major in biology and started looking into future careers in healthcare. He was able to shadow his hometown chiropractor several times and that really allowed him to gain valuable insight into the chiropractic profession. This sparked a road trip with his father to learn more about chiropractic and they drove out to Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa which was the first chiropractic school and where the chiropractic profession began.

“Our time at Palmer was great; we were able to tour the student clinic and meet with academic advisors and really get a feel for the great education that would be provided there.”

After graduating from Albion College in the spring of 2006, Dr. Nick started his path to becoming a chiropractor by enrolling at Palmer College of Chiropractic. He truly enjoyed his time at Palmer; he became an active member of the motion palpation club, sports council club and became a radiology intern for both the student and community clinics on campus. One of the best experiences while being at Palmer was being a part of the clinic abroad trip to Fiji. Dr. Chappel was selected to go to Fiji with a small group of students and clinic doctors to provide care to the people of Fiji. This gave him the opportunity to treat and examine patients with a variety of musculoskeletal conditions and with the expertise of several clinic doctors provide treatment to these patients.

After graduating with honors (Cum Laude) in 2010 from Palmer College of Chiropractic Dr. Nick decided to move to Charlotte, North Carolina. His fiancé Kelly is from Charlotte and he always enjoyed the warmer winter weather and the proximity to the beach and mountains. Dr. Nick practiced in the surrounding Charlotte area right after graduating and had the pleasure of being the Wingate University chiropractor for just over 2 years. Dr. Nick joined the Keith Clinic in September of 2016 and has truly enjoyed being a part of the family here. In practice Dr. Nick focuses on sports injuries, trauma related injuries from auto collisions and your typical weekend warrior injuries.

“Chiropractic care when combined with preventative and modern medicine can help patients feel and perform at their best. I try to help patients improve with pain levels but also with function and at times chiropractic care improves and relieves 100% of what patients come into our office for. At other times we are able to help solve a part of what is causing the patient pain. This allows us to refer out and work with others in the medical community, this cooperative type of care provides the best experience for each patient.”

Personally he is very passionate about the game of golf, music and his family.  He loves playing with his kids, taking them out on the golf course even if it’s just to tag along and ride in the golf cart. His wife and kids enjoy getting up to Lake Norman occasionally or a short trip to the mountains or beach. Dr. Nick stays up on all things golf related, and when the time is available tries to play as often as he can. He is a music lover and has played the guitar since the age of thirteen.
